2. 78 million dogs are pets in US homes alone, but how many are as great as me? I’ll give you a hint – zero.

4. A statistic shows that the number of cats in households as of 2014 is 95.8 million. And unfortunately three of those of cats live with me…

5. Compare that to the number of dogs in homes, which in the same year 83.3 million. The reason for the number difference is many homes only have one dog, meanwhile cats households usually have more than one. Cats are the most owned pets, but dogs are owned in more homes.

6. The Labrador Retriever is, once again, the number one dog in the United States. This is the most popular breed in the US and has been for the last twenty four years, which is like 117 dog years!

7. Twenty nine percent of pet-less adults grew up in a pet-less family. Wow. Someone get these poor humans a puppy!

8. About 7.6 million dogs, cats, and other companion animals are turned into shelters each year. Over half are strays while the rest are, unfortunately, surrendered by their family.

9. Eighty four percent of cats owned cats are spayed or neutered.

10. The United States is the leading cat country with an estimated 76,430,00 cats. The US is followed by China with approximately 53,100,00 cats and then Russia with about 12,700,00.
